General
Are the people employed being treated and paid fairly?
Yes, the people working in our planting project are treated fairly and paid the minimum wage required by law for a full month's work, regardless of the number of days they work.
They are also provided with a full month off from work every year, during which they receive their full wages.
In addition, our partnership with Eden Projects provides our workers with government medical care and retirement benefits.
By employing locals in rural villages to grow, plant, and guard native forests, we're helping to alleviate poverty, provide a consistent income to communities, and restore the environment through reforestation efforts.
This creates a deep connection between the locals and the land, and it allows families to meet their essential needs, send their children to school, start businesses, and plan for their future."
Why are the trees planted in developing countries?
Reforestation programs in developing countries serve as a beneficial form of aid by not only mitigating carbon emissions but also promoting better health and reducing poverty for those living in vulnerable regions.
The individuals residing in developing countries often have a significantly lower carbon footprint than those living in developed nations, yet they suffer the most from the consequences of climate change.
Opting for reforestation projects in developing nations allows for a more significant socioeconomic and environmental impact compared to investing in similar initiatives in developed countries.
How do you ensure the protection of your trees? How do you know your trees will not be cut down again?
Every effort is made to ensure the forests planted becomes permanent and sustainable.
The following steps have been implemented:
Work is done carefully with all levels of government to secure written agreements designating the restoration sites as protected in perpetuity.
Not planting occurs in logging areas.
There is never a 100% guarantee that some form of illegal harvest will not occur.
However, everything is done within legal limits to ensure the restoration sites are guaranteed to stand in perpetuity.
Locals plant the trees
In this way, extreme poverty is alleviated within the impacted community.
The community members now have an economic incentive to ensure the well-being of the restoration project.
They also have a sense of “ownership” over the trees and restored forest and they protect it with great care.
Agro-forestry species are part of the planting scheme (fruit, fodder, and construction species designed to provide food security and benefit legitimate human needs).
Over time these trees become a source of sustainable income. As much as possible is done to supply the locals with alternative fuel sources (fuel-efficient dry wood stoves and solar parabolic stoves), which reduces and/or eliminates their dependence on charcoal.
Forest guards are hired as part of the labor force. Recently a Forest Guard Endowment Fund has been created, whereby one cent of the price of each tree is put into a fund for long-term guarding and protection of our sites.
Most significantly, the locals fall in love with their forest. They also recognise and benefit from the restored forest through an increase in fisheries, improved farming, cleaner water, and the formation of micro-enterprises.
Is this really going to make a difference?
Absolutely!
There are billions of people around the world who are concerned about the future of our planet, but may not know how to make a meaningful impact.
That's where our platform comes in - we provide an easy and affordable way to make a significant contribution to climate positivity.
If you're able to spend money on luxury items like barista-made coffee, new clothes, and filling up your petrol tank, then offsetting your carbon footprint should be seen as a small social obligation.
By supporting our initiative, you'll be helping to plant millions of trees, offset huge amounts of CO2, create valuable employment opportunities, and restore habitat for countless creatures.
Our goal is to drive positive change through collective action, and with your contribution, we can achieve it.
So, rest assured that every little bit counts and together, we can make a difference.
How do you track the number of trees you've planted and survival rates?
To keep track of the number of trees planted and their survival rates, the project leaders use established methods for counting and sorting seedlings or propagules in the nurseries.
Once these have been collected and sorted, they are planted at specific locations.
It's important to note that a certain percentage of these planted seedlings or propagules may not survive due to factors such as weather conditions or pests.
However, the project team has found that once natural regeneration begins to occur, the impact of this initial mortality becomes less relevant.
For instance, at our mangrove sites, the rate of natural regeneration often exceeds 150% of the original number of trees planted.
This means that the natural growth and expansion of the trees far outweighs any initial loss, and the project can still achieve its overall goals of reforestation and environmental restoration.

In summary, you can trust that your money is being converted into trees through our commitment to social and environmental responsibility, rigorous planting practices, independent auditing, and support for sustainable initiatives.
How is the price determined
The price of our trees is determined based on a comprehensive range of factors that ensure the highest quality and long-term sustainability of our reforestation projects. Here's how we determine our prices:
- Seed gathering and planting: Our price includes the cost of responsibly collecting and cultivating seeds from native tree species and planting them in carefully selected locations.
- Tree monitoring: We allocate resources to monitor the growth and development of the trees we plant. This involves using advanced satellite technology, geo-tagged photos, and regular field visits to track their progress.
- Forest care and protection: Our pricing encompasses the ongoing care and protection of the reforested areas. This includes activities such as weed control, erosion prevention, and other measures to ensure the survival and vitality of the trees.
- Non-profit operations: Our pricing also covers the operational costs of our non-profit organization, allowing us to continue our mission of reforestation and environmental conservation.
It's important to note that while our prices remain competitive, we prioritize the establishment of diverse, native forests over cheaper monocultures. By working closely with local communities, we ensure that the trees we plant have the best chance of thriving and making a positive impact on the environment.
Can I track my own trees?
While we may not be able to provide real-time individual tracking for each tree, we offer regular updates and information on the progress of our reforestation efforts. By staying connected with us, you will receive updates on the overall impact of the project, the number of trees planted, and the positive environmental changes taking place. We encourage you to stay engaged and informed about our reforestation initiatives as we work together to make a difference.
Business
Who plants the trees?
Locals are educated and employed to propagate and plant the species.
These are generally people from communities who are suffering from the effects of climate change and deforestation but have no ability to make a change on their own.
They are paid fair wages and receive medical and holiday benefits as well. This employment is absolutely life-changing for these communities
What trees do you plant?
Depending on the planting site's location will depend on what species of trees are planted but the important thing is that they are all native species, with seeds sourced and propagated from the areas that they will be planted in and a large variety of species are planted to create a self-sustaining ecosystem.
The most important factor is that there is no monoculture (just one species) as this is ecologically very damaging (as seen by palm oil plantations).
Currently, our chosen projects are focusing heavily on mangrove and coastal plantings which not only help local land and aviary species but also act as a nursery for many oceanic species.
Mangroves also sequester up to 4x more carbon than hardwoods
Will this offset my carbon footprint?
Offsetting your carbon footprint is a complex and expensive process that involves measuring the amount of carbon emissions produced by your activities and then finding ways to reduce or eliminate them.
When it comes to offsetting through forestry services, things can get even more complicated since different tree species absorb carbon dioxide at varying rates. While planting enough trees can help make your business carbon positive, it's important to keep in mind that the benefits of reforestation go beyond carbon sequestration.
By restoring native habitats and reversing the damage caused by deforestation, tree planting can help support biodiversity and mitigate the effects of climate change.
At our OneWorld, we not only aim to offset carbon emissions, but also to promote ecological restoration and provide employment opportunities for impoverished communities.
So while our plans can help you achieve your carbon offsetting goals, they also contribute to broader environmental and social objectives.

If everything is made of Co2, why is it bad?
While carbon dioxide (CO2) is a natural component of the Earth's atmosphere, it can become a problem when levels become too high.
This is because CO2 is a greenhouse gas, which means it traps heat in the Earth's atmosphere and contributes to global warming.
The burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas releases large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, leading to a buildup of greenhouse gases that trap heat and cause the planet's temperature to rise.
This process is commonly referred to as climate change, and it can have severe consequences such as rising sea levels, more frequent and severe weather events, and the loss of biodiversity.
Moreover, high levels of CO2 can also have negative impacts on human health, causing respiratory problems and exacerbating conditions such as asthma.
Therefore, while carbon dioxide is essential for life on Earth, it is important to maintain a balance in the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere to prevent the negative impacts of climate change and to protect human health.
