Eden Reforestation Projects

Operating our Philippines and Brazilian Sites, Eden Reforestation Projects is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating deforestation and environmental degradation through large-scale reforestation efforts. Founded in 2005, the organization operates globally, working in collaboration with local communities and employing a unique "Employ to Plant" model. This approach not only helps to restore ecosystems but also provides employment opportunities for impoverished communities.

Managing our Tanzanian Project, WeForest is a non-profit organization founded in 2009, dedicated to global forest restoration and climate change mitigation. They employ a science-based approach, collaborating with local communities to implement sustainable reforestation projects in Africa, South America, and Asia. WeForest emphasizes community involvement, economic development, and transparency in their efforts to create biodiverse and resilient forests. Their work aims to address deforestation, habitat loss, and climate change impacts.

How its Done: Site Selection and Preparation

Before initiating any planting activities, sites need to be carefully selected as suitable for reforestation. Factors such as soil type, climate, elevation, and proximity to water sources are considered. This preliminary assessment ensures the success and long-term viability of the forest.

Seedling Nurseries

To ensure a healthy and abundant supply of seedlings, nurseries are established near the planting sites.

Local community members are often involved in the nursery operations, providing employment opportunities and empowering local communities.

The nurseries carefully nurture seedlings until they are ready for transplantation.

Monitoring and Maintenance

After planting, Our Planting Projects continues to monitor the newly established forests to ensure their long-term survival.

We provide ongoing maintenance, including regular watering, weeding, and protection from pests and diseases.

Local communities are often involved in these activities, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Our Planting Projects implement a multifaceted approach to restoration and reforestation, rooted by a range of planting techniques designed for both success and sustainability. Central to our strategy is the careful selection and use of native tree species. This choice is critical in fostering biodiversity, as native species are well-adapted to local ecosystems, ensuring a more resilient and ecologically balanced environment.
